Our Story
Britta with a beloved elder of the Mentigi Bay community — thirty years of belonging, in one frame.
Britta's roots lie on the North Sea coast, in a boatbuilding tradition whose ships once sailed to the East Indies. Centuries later, Indonesia called her back. Guided by books like Ring of Fire, she followed that pull to Sulawesi — and never left.
There she built a traditional phinisi with a renowned South Sulawesi boatbuilder and founded Blue Water Cruises. Aboard that boat, the Al Isra, she discovered a quiet bay in North Lombok: Mentigi Bay — welcomed by a kind community of fishermen and farmers.
Inspired by that place, she set out to manifest a vision: iconic dome villas — geometric, one-of-a-kind homes with breathing views and unrestricted horizons.
Austrian surrealist painter and architect, born in Munich in 1954. Wolfgang studied Renaissance painting techniques under Prof. Ernst Fuchs in Vienna — who sent him to study with Salvador Dalí in Cadaqués, Spain. He applies classical European technique to a pushed vision of reality: curved-mirror still lifes, portraits of nature from his Tuscany years, and large archetypal canvases inspired by Papua New Guinea.
Since 1984 he has lived in Bali — over three decades of painting and architectural projects across Indonesia and Europe. His motto is simple: aesthetic = ethic — creating places where people experience the Good, the True, and the Beautiful.
When Britta brought him to Mentigi Bay aboard the Al Isra, he opened his sketchbook before the anchor dropped. The Al-Quba domes are the continuation of a lifelong artistic vision.
In Vienna, Ernst Fuchs revived the spiritual power of the Old Masters. In Spain, Salvador Dalí bent time and form. At their side, Wolfgang learned to carry that fire — and in Lombok, with Britta, it became living architecture: sculptural curves meeting sacred geometry, breathing with the island's spirit.
Lombok holds one of the highest densities of prayer domes in the world — a place where devotion is built into the skyline, and every curve points toward something higher. Al-Quba's domes belong to this landscape.
